Happy Wednesday Novas! Today’s post will be focusing on a video game that I have just learned will be releasing this year; Sonic Mania! Sonic was one of the iconic games of my childhood so when I was rummaging through the PlayStation store (because my Xbox One just got fried by a storm :((((( ) the new Sonic game immediately caught my attention.
Sonic Mania is a 2D video game that allows you to play with Sonic, Tails or Knuckles as you take on stages and battle against Dr. Eggman. The levels are re-imagined, classic levels like a newer version of Green Hill Zone, Casino Night or the Chemical Plant stage. This reboot of a classic also brings with it the new Drop Dash move! From what I can see, it looks like you are able to drop down (while in ball form) and quickly dash in the direction of your choice. This is a great add on because it’s all performed in one single motion. No more losing coins because you didn’t properly jump on the enemy. Look at the comparisons between the original Casino Night Stage and the new Casino Stage below!
I love a classic Sonic game, but my favorite will forever be Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. The introduction of Shadow and the Chao Gardens are a formula that was unmatched in the franchise’s history. Some questions I have are how many levels will be included in the game? Are you able to switch between the 3 main characters at any time?
Sonic Mania looks to be really fun and I’m always up for some nostalgia. I have listed below my top reasons that I would want to “Play” or “Skip” Sonic Mania.
Play:
- Classic 2D Game play
- Very reasonable price $19.99
- Upgraded features (60 FPS, Drop Dash Ability)
Skip:
- Not a Fan of Sonic Games

I think I’m totally going to end up with this game! 😁… Those original sonic games were excellent, and from what I’ve seen it’s just much more of that. I know it’s basically pandering to people with the nostalgia glasses like me… But I don’t care! WOOOH SONIC!

I always had a sonic game growing up, but never sat down and actually beat the original. I did however end of beating sonic on the GameCube. I don’t remember the title, but I do remember playing all night in order to track down the right items in order to make my Chaos more exotic or powerful. The mini game of raising these little guys took up more of my time then the actual game.
I’m kinda excited to play this game on the switch and hopefully beat it.

That was probably the sonic adventure 2 battle game. It was awesome. You played as sonic, shadow and different characters on the levels.
My brother beat most of my sonic games for me as a kid lol

That’s probably right. I do remember playing as every character plus becoming “Super Sayan” Sonic for some reason. Great game though. If they remade it for the switch I would be first in line.

I hardly play old remakes but some of my early childhood memories are of me and my cousin playing this! I might have to get this now. Such a fun game.

I already preordered the game. I like the classic games. I remembered playing the old games from Mega Collection and Gems Collection on GameCube.

Oh great! A few more days but I think I read somewhere that the game is Being delayed on pc. Not quite sure why but since I am buying it for ps4 it really doesn’t matter. 😁

Yeah unfortunately the PC game is delayed but fans will be getting Sonic 1 for free if you preordered the game for PC. I am ready for Tuesday! 🙂

If you have a Nintendo Switch then I highly recommend getting it for that console. It’s pretty fun to have a sonic game on the go and the big screen!
